December List

Ten activities to get you through December and all set for Christmas!

While I was all all sniffled up with an awful cold last week, I attempt to make myself feel better with your suggestions and by writing a list of all the fun things I wanted to do in December when I felt better. Here's my list which I'm already ticking my way through:

1. Mull some wine

Mulled wine and mulled apple juice are my favourite drinks to warm up with on a cold winter's night, so I plan to have a constant supply bubbling away.

2. Write a Christmas song

I'm getting tired of the same Christmas songs which are played every year, so this year I want to write my own!

3. Wear holly in my hair

I love hair accessories and nothing makes a better Christmas hairpiece than holly. I'm going to mixing between real holly and my felt holly hair clip.

4. Go window shopping

I hate going in to shops in December but I love to see all of their pretty lights, so I skip the crowds and the Christmas music by going window shopping at nights.

5. Sew a party dress

There are so many parties in December, so it's the perfect time to sew and show off a new dress. I'm envisioning lots of bows and sparkles. I might even attempt the neck-tie dress which has been on my To-Craft List for ages.

6. Hang paper chains

Paper chains may be the easiest decoration to make but they look so lovely and cheerful. I'm going to grab some pastel paper, scissors and a stapler to make miles of them to hang all over the house.

7. Drink eggnog

I love eggnog and Dave sent me his recipe last year, so I'm going to attempt to make my own.

8. Send cards

I still love snail mail and will keep up my tradition of sending cards to long lost friends this year.

9. Make presents

Each year, I try to make more and more presents, rather than buying things in the shop and this year, my list of things to craft is longer than ever. My sewing machine is going to be kept very busy.

10. Write my resolutions

I haven't had a chance to think about my resolutions yet, but setting ones for 2012 worked well. When the busyness of Christmas is over, I'm going to plan out my goals for 2013.

October List

Ten ideas to get you in the Halloween mood and brighten up October!

My list of spooky, cosy and creative things to-do in October.

Autumn is my favourite time of the year. There's something in the air and I love wrapping up, grabbing a hot coffee and going for walks while crunching leaves underfoot. However, the change in the season can affect me in a negative way when the short days that go dark earlier suck up my energy. So, to prepare and keep up the happiness, I've put together a list of my favourite things which are sure to keep us in a great mood for the whole month.

1. Wear animal ears

Even though I like to wear animal ears all year long, it's actually acceptable to wear them outside in October with Halloween as an excuse. I plan to wear mine most days, including my new brainwave cat ears.

2. Bake candy apples

Candy apples are one of my favourite Halloween treats and when it gets cold outside, baking is the perfect way to warm up the kitchen.

3. Watch scary movies

I'm a total wimp when it comes to scary movies, so I've not seen many, but I plan to watch a couple at least to get in the mood for Halloween. Do you have any suggestions?

4. Feed the squirrels

I love to feed the squirrels all year, but it feels like we're doing them a favour in October and helping them bulk up for winter.

5. Make a leaf wreath

Add a touch of fall to your door with a DIY leaf wreath. Check out my how-to to make your own, it's so easy and really cheap. Combine it with suggestions 4, 6, 7 & 8 it would be the perfect day.

6. Snap shadow photos

I've mentioned shadow photos before but they're perfect for giving your Halloween photos and extra creepy look.

7. Drink pumpkin lattes

A delicious pumpkin latte is the perfect way to warm up on a cold day and Starbucks just got theirs in. I want mine with the salted caramel on top.

8. Wrap up & take walks

October is the perfect month for taking long walks in the park. Wrap up warm, pick up your pumpkin spice latte and get ready to crunch some leaves before it gets too cold to leave the house.

9. Carve pumpkins

It wouldn't be Halloween without a pumpkin. I'm still trying to come up with an awesome idea for our one this year.

10. Make a scary costume

It's time to start crafting your Halloween costume. Get an early start to make sure it's super scary and avoid long queues in the costume store.

I ♥ FRUiTS

Harajuku fashion from the streets of Tokyo!

I've never actually counted but we estimated that I probably have around 1000 books in my rainbow bookcase. Today, I'm picking from the pink section to bring you one of my favourite books, FRUiTS.

FRUiTS is filled with photographs of street fashion from the Harajuku district in Tokyo. I love how bold and colourful each of the outfits are, accessorised with crazy shoes, bags and toys. I must have flipped through it dozens of times but I always discover new little details that I've missed before.

Do you have a copy of FRUiTS in your bookcase? Which books do you love the most?
