I only drink beer with my face on it… Friday, September 25th, 2009

usbeer

CO+K were invited along to Craft Scotland’s premier of a new cinema ad campaign, called The C Word, at the Curzon Cinema in Soho last night. It was an interesting evening and we got to meet lots of Edinburgh-based crafters, who we gave Moo cards to and have arranged to meet up with when we’re back at xmas. A man asked to take our photo and later appeared with bottles of Vedett beer with our faces on, which was funny!

harley

This morning my Lego Harley Quinn keyring arrived. Tom got it for me to hang up on his Lego keyrack.

macaroons

After work today, we decided to go for a mini picnic in Holland Park with massiva macaroons from Paul. They were delicious. A lady had lost her son, who was wearing a blue stripy top but most of the children in the park where wearing blue stripy tops. She eventually found him though.

squirrel

We fed the squirrels.

munch

They were friendly and hungry.

munchmunch

Very very hungry. Afterwards, I bought a new mac, which was about a thousand pounds more affordable than my dream Burberry mac.

What’s new for fall… Friday, August 21st, 2009

stamper

There was a postal strike on my birthday, so on Thursday morning, all of my delayed mail and presents arrived, including this awesome Cat Morley stamp, which Tom designed for me.

japansnacks

Jenny sent me a package of yummy snacks from Japan. The crisps are addictive and the milky sweets were really good. I’ve saved the packaging because it’s so cute, I just need to think up something to make with them.

movida

In the evening, we were invited to a fashion industry networking party at Movida. The club is known for celebrities falling out of it and the bar is made of marble and changes colour.

cocktails

The event was sponsored by LG, so there were lots of phone freebies everywhere, free cocktails and bowls of lollipops.

We didn’t manage to avoid getting papped. We ended up chatting to two lovely ladies, who work for a fashion & textile magazine called  Ysh London. They spotted my Melissa shoes out of the crowd and we got on famously.

watch

One of them had an amazing clockwork watch that she bought in Japan, which I loved to pieces.

paint

I’ve been trying to be more creative, so I hunted out my watercolour paints and played around for a while yesterday. I need to do that more.

The summer of irresponsibility… Thursday, July 30th, 2009

cards

Over the past week, we’ve been sending notes back and forth with our neighbour, Diana. She asked us to keep an eye on her house, while she’s away working on a TV series. Her cards have photos of the costumes she’s made on and they’re quite impressive.  Also, I woke up to Chanel goodies in the mail, which Emma had kindly sent from the office.

balladof

Last night was the launch of Ballad Of… Magazine. It’s quite a cool arty magazine, which strangely had an article written by someone Tom use to work with at Avalanche.

emandraven

Afterwards, Raven took us to her favorite Vietnamese restaurant for noodles.

noodles

Ordering was tricky while drunk, but I ended up with seafood fried noodles.

warwick

On the way home, the friendly man at Warwick Avenue tube had written a nice little note on the service information board.

Roll Britannia Brochure… Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

rollcover

We sponsored roller derby tournament Roll Britannia and had an advert in the brochure.

Pinup girl bootcamp… Sunday, April 26th, 2009

hats

Saturday was a very long but fun day. I got up super early and headed to Elephant & Castle for a 1950′s hair and make-up class, which I had been invited to review for CO+K. It lasted for 4 hours and we were taught how to curl and twist our hair in to various 50′s styles and apply our make-up like true pinup girls. I had lunch with the two lovely ladies above – Lena works for a cool site called Queens of Vintage and Bea deVile is a burlesque performer, who claims to make killer cupcakes. We’ve already planned various ways for working together.

pinuphair

Ruby Rose styled my hair and made my modern fringe disappear – I wish I could carry her around in my bag and have her do my hair and make-up every day.

clasp

The afternoon was a fascinator making class with Tricia Cox, who I had met at a craft fair last year. It was so much fun playing with all the pretty embellishments.

fascinators1

I headed home around 6 pm feeling very sleepy with two lovely new fascinators.

Today we went to Ikea to buy frames and afterwards we went to Plan 9′s birthday party, they’re 1 year old.

Drawing pinup girls and getting tipsy… Thursday, August 14th, 2008

drsketchy

Last night, the lovely Molly Crabapple invited us to Dr Sketchy at the infamous Madame Jojo’s in Soho. We were sat next to Nathan from Snow Patrol and it was such a fun night of drawing burlesque girls, getting drunk and winning raffles. Tom won load of prizes – a piece of artwork titled “Dead Hooker”, two sets of stockings (which I’ve nabbed) and an evening tea & scones for four at the Betty Blythe tearoom in Shepherd’s bush.

In crafting news, I made a Harley Quinn keyring the  other day after seeing queenfairypants’ awesome Joker keyring.
