Goodbye America… Friday, February 19th, 2010

We’re back in London now and it was so sad to leave America. Everyone was so nice and they got even nicer the further south we went.

We got up early on Wednesday morning, still recovering from Mardi Gras and packed up to leave.

It was sad saying bye to Raven but I’m sure we’ll see her soon.

Our first flight was to Houston, Texas where we stopped to spend our remaining dollars on some tasty fast food from Wendy’s. The flight home went smooth, although piloted by a George Bush sound-a-like with two Sarah Palin look-a-like hostesses.

I watched Where The Wild Things Are and an amazing reality / contest show called Ultimate Cake Off, which I really need to get more of.

London’s all rainy but at least it’s Fashion Week and we arrived home to find a bunch of show invites in the mail. Also, a few more versions of my Kitty Hood Scarf have appeared on CO+K – I love them so much!

Keep calm and carry on… Sunday, February 7th, 2010

This week I’ve been super crafty. My first project was a couple of Union Jack pillows for the bed. “Someone” brought me a heap of Chanel ribbons to use and they worked really well.

I made a mermaid tail as my costume for Mardis Gras. It has a zipper up the back at the bottom, so I can unzip my feet and walk. My favourite movie when I was a kid was The Little Mermaid, so I’ve always wanted a tail and now I have one :D

The secret cafe at Westfield has closed down but we discovered a new little place called Ca’puccino which serves yummy Italian food.

There were floating shelves of books everywhere, which made me feel at home.

The mugs and napkins had a lined paper pattern and now I really want a set.

CO+K has been getting lots of press this week and has been in a bunch of magazines. This article was in Craft Business – they call me a well-known journalist, hehe.

There was also a little mention in MakeJewellery magazine. We’re also in the new issue of Sew Magazine, so if anyone has a copy, could you please send me a scan with the bit about us? I’d love to know what it says.

Finally, someone else has made a version of my kitty hood scarf, I’m going to have a little army soon.

Time to start packing, we leave for New York in less than 48 hours and I’m so excited. If anyone has any NY tips, please send them this way!

Goodbye sunshine… Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I’m back in London now. Tom met us at the airport which was such a nice surprise. I’m going to miss the sunshine.

I forgot to post photos of the hotel before. It was really nice and right next to the pool, which was the best bit. We would sit out on the balcony at night and watch movies on my laptop.

Someone on CO+K has already made a version of my Kitty Hood Scarf. It took me over a year to finish and they did it in just 1 week! It looks fantastic too.

Today we brunched with Lynz, Claire & Emma at Plan 9, had the cheapest round ever at the Warrington and then went for cupcakes at Hummingbird.

On the way home I spotted this shop covered in bows. I want to do the same to the Mews!
