Hit the road Jack… Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Last week Tom’s brother Jack came down to stay for a few days, as he was in an art show at Truman Brewery. His work included a photograph of him naked in a quarry next to two giant diggers and a series of photographs of bathroom taps – Tom’s pointing to the one’s in his bathroom back home.

I also bought 4 pairs of shoes… a black pair, a purple pair, a red pair (with matching red bag and Gay Pride sparkly red velvet cupcake)…

and a pink Vivienne Westwood pair with a matching skull & bone orb necklace.

I also made a quilted star bag. I’m going to braid some fabric through the chain when I figure out how to make piping on my sewing machine.

I love the Cath Kidston meets Chanel bags, but they’re £45 so I decided to make my own. I’ll post the Cat Kidston how-to on CO+K soon.

louiseandcake

The last few days have been really fun. Louise, my best friend from high school, came down to London for a job interview, so I got to spend yesterday with her. We had lunch on the canal boat at Little Venice, followed by coffee and cake in Maida Vale. She’s a photographer, so we went for a snoop around the Photographer’s Gallery and then wandered around the side streets of Soho, looking for interesting angles to snap.

bubbletea

We treated ourselves to bubble tea in China Town and then met up with Tom and took a riverboat down the Thames.

We went to Canary Wharf, to see all the skyscrapers light up as it went dark and then got lost in the underground maze of shopping malls. After that we went for a dinner at Yo Sushi!

This morning we went for breakfast at Plan 9 (french toast w/ banana & blueberry ♥) and then waved goodbye to Louise at the tube. She’s going to Korea for a year and then she wants to move to London.

Adam Buxton showed us some videos using tiltshift photography a while ago and I thought it would be really tricky to do and that you’d need special equipment, but I found a website that applies the effect to your photos and now I’m addicted.

In other news, Starbucks are paying Tom to keep a coffee diary, because he drinks way too much. Some people have all the luck!

Faces where no-one else can see them… Sunday, November 2nd, 2008

Tom’s dad takes photographs of faces that he sees in inanimate objects and the landscape, and I’ve started to as well. I think he should start a flickr group or make a calendar of the photos he’s taken.

I’ve started a gallery for them.

I’m going down to thimble island… Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Calum seems to be taking over the whole mew (click the image for the full effect.)

mecalum

DiS was being run out of our mews today, so Calum and I were turfed out. So, to keep ourselves busy we went to the portrait gallery and then took a cruise down the Thames to the 02 (*cough cough* Millenium Dome).

bigben1

Calum didn’t think that Big Ben was actually that tall.

The Rifles at Fat Sams… Thursday, March 20th, 2008

delays

Last night Reverb Magzine, the one you get in Sound Control, sent me off to photograph The Rifles at FatSam’s.

rife1

The gig was one of the youngest, audience wise, that I had been too in a long time.

rife2

The teeny boppers kept throwing their fizzy pop (because they weren’t old enough for beer and probably couldn’t afford £10 for two drinks) at the band and my camera got a little splattered. Typical Dundee!

photopass

I made a photo pass clip for my bag, because I never know where to stick them! Anyway, I’m off to Fife for a few days!

The secret life of Barbie… Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

the-secret-life-of-barbie

I’ve decided to start a new photo project about the secret life of Barbie.

dicehairclips

I was clearing out some old board games, so I decided to make a set of hair ties out of them. The skull hair bow was sent to me from Kustom Voodoo.

dvds

I was also sent a set of DVDs, Yoga and Pilates for Indie Rockers. They’re so cool because you can use your own music as the backing track to work out too.

sushi

I’m loving sushi from Tesco at the moment, it’s sooo good, especially the tuna rolls.

Point and click… Monday, January 28th, 2008

cameratee

Tom got his brother, Jack a cool tee for his Christmas, and I was jealous, so today I made my own cool camera tee. It’s printed with the icons you get on the scroll wheel of a Canon camera.

sparkles

On the subject of photography, Tom got me this cool little lens sticker gizmo for my camera phone. It makes the lights all twinkly.

sushifish

I made a sushi fish necklace for my swap partner on CO+K. I modified the original project, to add shrink plastic sushi charms to the chain.
