I wanna do bad things with you… Friday, August 14th, 2009

raven

It’s been quite a lazy week on the Mews this week, we came third in the pub quiz again (once again out of four teams) and went to see Coco Before Chanel on Wednesday.

cutoutsave

Joshua Pileski, who is an inker offered to ink Crafterella and here’s how she turned out.

glassspecial

Martyn came down to visit today, so  we met up with him and headed to Little Venice for food and to meet Isobel, a friend from primary school. After, we headed in to town, went to see the 4th Plinth and went to Covent Garden (where Tom spotted this funny van with a broken mirror).

filofax

I got the awesome City Dweller insert for my Filofax. It has pages for planning outfits, working out dilemmas, commuter games, fittness planning and a secret section for rating dates. I love that it has a score out of 10 and boxes to tick for either friend / fling / marriage material.

In the evening we had dinner and headed to the Hawley Arms for drinks with Emma. Richard Bacon was there wearing a lot of Vivienne Westwood but not as much as me!

Picnicking on Primrose Hill… Sunday, August 9th, 2009

sprout

Emma and Raven have adopted two of our chili plant shoots, and yesterday morning, we went outside to be surprised by how much one of the shoots had grown over night.

picnic

It was such a hot day, so we met up with Lynsey and Claire and went for a picnic on Primrose Hill. We drank wine, posh-person spotted and got a little sunburnt.

chairs

Afterwards we headed back to the Mews, where Raven joined us and we brought the furniture outside to lounge on. Just before it got dark, the electricity men started knocking on the doors to tell us our power was going to be shut off for the next four hours.

monopoly

Feeling defeated, we headed to Ealing with Lynsey for dinner and a game of Monopoly, where I was well and truly beaten.

Sonisphere… Monday, August 3rd, 2009

ravenbagel

Yesterday we went for brunch at Plan 9 with Raven. Even the waitress commented on how awesome her “heart attack bagel” looked, it was a proper rockstar breakfast. We couldn’t help but notice how fit, healthy and pregnant everyone else in Maida Vale is at the moment.

sonsiphere

I won weekend tickets to the Sonsisphere festival, so we put on our wellies and headed up to Knebworth to meet up with Tony and Nick, who were also going. It was such a hot day and almost everyone was wearing black!

fred

We saw a bit of Feeder and then headed over to see Limp Bizkit, a band who I had hopped to forgot since being 14. It was a bit like an f-word contest and Fred Durst is way too middle-aged for that these days.

catandtom

We went for a wander and saw a few other bands. Raz was there too but we didn’t bump in to him.

bikes

We watched bikers doing tricks for a while and then went to see Nine Inch Nails, before heading back to London for dinner at Vapianos. The weekend has been full of sin (fast food and alcohol), so today I’m getting back to my yoga, jogging and healthy living!

Cupcakes, cocktails & crossstitch… Saturday, August 1st, 2009

crossstitch

Today was Cupcakes, Cocktails & Crossstitch hosted by Phil (the most awesome drunken Irish guy who ever lived) at the Queen Of Hoxton in Shoreditch. There were free cupcakes, super strong jelly shots, acoustic sets from bands, DJs, hula-hoop dancers and acrobats. There wasn’t any karaoke this time, but Phil wants to come to our next Singstar party. I really want to learn hula-hoop tricks, Gypsy Hoops is planning a trip to the UK and has promised to teach me – keep an eye out for her in the next Snippets.

roof

There was a BBQ on the roof, which was in between the skyscrapers of the City and had awesome views.

harley

I crossstitched Harley Quinn’s head and I was quite impressed with myself, as I made it up as I went along, rather than working from a pattern.

rootbeer

We nipped away for dinner at The Diner, a classy American-style diner chain, which sells root beer and “hard” milkshakes. We tucked in to mac ‘n’ cheese and pecan pie.

Picture 1

In the evening, we picked up Raven and went to the Field Day after party, which was hosted by Drowned In Sound (Tom designed the poster).

The summer of irresponsibility… Thursday, July 30th, 2009

cards

Over the past week, we’ve been sending notes back and forth with our neighbour, Diana. She asked us to keep an eye on her house, while she’s away working on a TV series. Her cards have photos of the costumes she’s made on and they’re quite impressive.  Also, I woke up to Chanel goodies in the mail, which Emma had kindly sent from the office.

balladof

Last night was the launch of Ballad Of… Magazine. It’s quite a cool arty magazine, which strangely had an article written by someone Tom use to work with at Avalanche.

emandraven

Afterwards, Raven took us to her favorite Vietnamese restaurant for noodles.

noodles

Ordering was tricky while drunk, but I ended up with seafood fried noodles.

warwick

On the way home, the friendly man at Warwick Avenue tube had written a nice little note on the service information board.

yoghurt

Had an early start this morning and headed for brunch at Plan 9, where I had my favorite, a museli sundae.

hedgehog

The rest of the day was filled up with Lynsey’s cocktail party in Ealing. We headed over with Emma, Raven and Tony. She had a huge house, lovely flatmates and a very cute hedgehog cake.

lyns

We felt rather guilty after slaughtering it. We all became very sleepy after several hours of gin and tonic, so headed back to Paddington…

raven

where Raven found love on the way home. Sweet dreams xoxo

The hideaway… Friday, July 17th, 2009

posse

We met up with Emma, Raven and Tony and headed to a gig at The Hideaway in Archway last night. Raven thinks we need to make a “call my posse” button for the iPhone and I agree.

hideaway

There was a cool stage with pinup girls painted on it and they kept giving us free shots of whisky, so it ended up a rather drunken night. Apart from ending up semi-stranded, we made it home in one piece! Also on Wednesday we went for sushi and to see Public Enemy with Emma and Raven.

One more time with feeling… Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

clare

Saturday was Clare’s birthday, so we headed down to Herne Hill to celebrate in a pub with a spotty dalmatian.

waxseal

I had ordered her a personalized wax seal, with her name on, and Tom brought her a Candy Cake, complete with a birthday candle.

On Sunday, we had a Vegetarian BBQ at the mews. Raven, Emma, Tony, Lynsey and Claire came and it was quite successful, apart from it raining midway through cooking the food, but it was nothing that an umbrella couldn’t fix.

Yesterday, I had an incredibly sloggy day at work and then snuggled up to watch Wimbeldon, the movie (which was awful) and a bit of Narnia with Tom and Emma in the evening. Tomorrow we’re off on a datenight with Emma and Raven to the movies. Also, this is in the mail and I can’t wait:

westwood3

dragon

Yesterday we got to hang out with Lyndsey. We’d spotted a Chinese river boat festival in TimeOut, which sounded good but when we got there, it wasn’t what we expected. It seemed to be all about selling insurance. There was a stage where someone called Bathroom Girl was performing, which was amusing.

sushi1

We decided to head to Canary Wharf and have lots and lots of sushi instead.

lynds

Afterwards we headed to Gordon’s Wine bar for an icy cold bottle of white wine. We picked up some cupcakes up from CandyCakes and heading home for spaghetti bolognaise.

neighbours

We had our dinner outside and Raven and Emma (our upstairs neighbours) joined us. Time flew away with itself and we ended up chatting until after midnight. Tonight we’re all having a girly night in, watching Wild Child with lots of popcorn.
