Cat Morley

Hi there! ...

My new skirt is covered in trains and it's putting me in the mood for an Amtrak adventure!

When I spotted this super cute train-print skirt from Cath Kidston, I knew I had to get one to wear on our next Amtrak adventure and impress my train-loving fiancé.

It was Laura's birthday on Monday and we'd planned to surprise her with a cake at the pub quiz but she was struck down with the flu, so we rescheduled for today.

I'd found the cake at the amazing chocolate shop in Newington and it was covered in chocolate mice, skull crushers, jazzies and other treats.

Feeling dizzy on birthday cake, pink fizz & 90s pop to celebrate Laura's birthday!

Kenny had got her a CD of 90's pop classics, so we listened to that while drinking fizzy pink wine and having a sugar binge. It left me feeling a little dizzy!

Plotting & planning all the places we're going to eat, sleep & take photos of is way too fun to feel like work!

I had the first call with the editor of our book this morning and it left me inspired to start plotting out our next road-trip later this year. I've pinned so many new places we want to eat, sleep and take photos of including a drive-in movie motel where you can watch movies from the window of your room.

It's the first meeting of Tom & Cat's dinner record club. Tonight - homemade salmon burgers with a side of The Smiths!

Tom and I have decided to start a weekly dinner and record club. I was cooking this week, so I made salmon burgers for the first time ever and they turned our really good. Here's my makeshift recipe:

Tom was picking the record and he chose Meat Is Murder by The Smiths. I'm not sure if Morrissey would agree with us eating fish though.

Got a super fun but long to-do list this week. What's on your list?

It's Monday, so I decided to write out my to-do list for all the things I have to do this week. It was very long but there are lots of fun things on it!

We went for dinner at YummyTori again tonight and ordered our usual bento boxes along with a couple of side tapas, including a Japanese pancake and wasabi prawns. They all tasted amazing.

One of the dishes has fish cakes on top which were warping under the heat and made it look like our food was alive.

We teamed up with Kenny for the quiz at Under The Stairs afterwards but we didn't do very well and one of the other teams were using Google Goggles to cheat on the picture round.

Sharing sweet potato wedges with my Mummy!

Tom was feeling a little hungover after the party last night, so I left him in bed and went out for sweet potato wedges with my Mum.

Afterwards we met up with my Dad, who's just been to see an exhibition on the vikings at the museum, for brunch at The Southern. I loved these dog portraits that they have on the wall.

Mum and I shared the pancakes and a veggie breakfast. It's great going for meals with her because we can always split two dishes.

Dad tucked in to a huge choca-blocker-glory for dessert and we had to help.

I picked up some iced cups and a cake for Laura's birthday on the way home.

Sewing matching kitty rain hoods for me and my favourite comic book author. I love being crafter to the stars!

I spent the evening work on my latest Crafter To The Stars project which was a kitty rain hood for my favourite comic book author, Serena Valentino.

Nicole & Quinn had a party to celebrate their 10 year anniversary today.

Mushroom, egg & brie crepe from the Grassmarket

Tom and I shared a mushroom, egg and brie crepe for dinner from the Grassmarket on our way and it was just as good as the ones we used to eat in Paris

The party was at The Caves in the Cowgate which was an awesome caverned vault. I kept waiting for something spooky to happen.

Nicole had done an amazing job with decorations and there were toys and nibbles on every table. She had even made her own dress covered in Magner's cider bottle tops.

Caroline & Steve were our company for the evening and we had fun playing with fortune telling fish, eating sweets and terrorising the other tables with party poppers.
